Brendan C. Stautberg

Mr. Brendan Stautberg, part of the firm’s federal employment law practice, focuses on protecting employees’ rights in federal sector employment, labor, and national security law matters. He represents clients in cases involving employee disciplinary, suitability, security clearance actions, appeals, and issues ranging from whistleblowing to investigations to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) claims.
With a wealth of experience, Mr. Stautberg has successfully represented clients before many federal agencies. These include the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Office of Special Counsel (OSC), Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA), Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), and Office of Personnel Management (OPM). His representation extends to clients’ employing agencies for various employment-related issues, ensuring comprehensive legal support.
Before joining Federal Practice Group, Mr. Stautberg practiced similar areas of law at Berry & Berry, PLLC in Reston, Virginia, where he also served as a law clerk during law school.
While at George Washington University Law School, he clerked for National Security Counselors, a nonprofit public interest firm, gaining experience in national security legal matters, including security clearances, whistleblower law, government transparency litigation, and government reform advocacy. His work included Freedom of Information Act lawsuits, a Supreme Court amicus brief, and more.
At GW Law, Mr. Stautberg was an active member of the George Washington Law Review and Moot Court Board, graduating with honors and earning the school’s highest Pro Bono Service Award. Before law school, he interned with the Technology & Press Freedom Team at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and in Senator Bob Casey’s office on Capitol Hill.
He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is originally from southeastern Pennsylvania.
