Mrs. Isabel Cottrell is an Associate with The Federal Practice Group, and is part of the federal employment group. Mrs. Cottrell is fluent in both English and Spanish and has substantive experience in federal employment. She represents individuals in federal and state employment and labor law matters pertaining to discrimination, prohibited personnel practices, whistleblower reprisal, disciplinary and adverse actions, administrative and union grievances, and disability retirement.

Prior to joining The Federal Practice Group, Mrs. Cottrell worked for two other prestigious Washington, D.C. law firms that focused on federal and state employment and labor law areas. She has extensive experience managing cases throughout various stages of litigation in federal, state, and administrative proceedings.

Mrs. Cottrell earned her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School. During law school, Mrs. Cottrell put her Spanish-speaking skills to great use when she served an internship at the National Center for Refugee & Immigrant Children. She volunteered as a student representative for the Unemployment Action Center in Manhattan. She also served as a judicial intern at the New York State Supreme Court for the Honorable Doris Ling-Cohan.

Mrs. Cottrell graduated from the University of the South with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish.

Mrs. Cottrell is admitted to practice in both Virginia and the District of Columbia.
