Union sues Trump over workforce executive order

Last week, the Trump administration announced a series of executive orders that would streamline the termination process for federal employees, and reduce collective bargaining rights for workers. In response, the American Federation of Government Employees and the National Treasury Employees union have filed two separate lawsuits against the White House challenging the orders.
“I think the premise of the order was hoping to undercut federal employees’ rights in terms of those employees challenging the actions where they’ve been accused of misconduct or performance. But in actuality, there’s not much meat behind the order,” said Joanna Friedman, partner at The Federal Practice Group. “I think that the lawsuits have some good ideas, and that both lawsuits have a real chance at succeeding.”
