The Federal Practice Group Founding Partner Eric Montalvo recently sat down with Frank Carmichael of 1050 WLIP for a Q & A on the latest developments in the Bowe Bergdahl case. Touching on many of the topics he has in previous interviews, Mr. Montalvo shared some of his viewpoints with Mr. Carmichael. Initially, he discusses the difficulty defense attorneys have when working with clients who fail to exercise their Constitutional right to remain silent, as is the case with Bergdahl sharing his story on the hit podcast Serial. This is due to the face that his statements may be used against him.
Additionally, Attorney Montalvo goes on to discuss the role of media attention in the case, the question of mental health and thought process of Bergdahl at the time of the alleged offenses, the terms of his release, political elements involved in the larger story, and more.
