The Federal Practice Group is pleased to welcome Attorney Ayesha Kumararatne to our team as an Affiliate Counsel. From her practice in Ottawa, Canada, Ms. Kumararatne will focus on helping clients resolve their Canadian immigration matters.
As the founder of a boutique immigration law and criminal defense practice in Ottawa, Ms. Kumararatne is well-versed in a wide range of Canadian legal matters. Her immigration law experience has often required her to appear before all levels of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, and the Federal Court of Canada as well.
Ms. Kumararatne graduated summa cum laude from Carleton University with a B.A. in Political Science and Human Rights. She went on to attend law school at the University of Ottawa, during which time she received the International Commission of Jurists (Canada section) prize for Outstanding Achievement in International Human Rights Law.
Ms. Kumararatne has experience with a wide range of international justice matters, and she has worked in locations such as New York, The Hague, and Colombo, Sri Lanka. A fluent speaker of Sinhalese, Mr. Kumararatne also serves clients in French and Italian.
