Complaints concerning watered-down intelligence on ISIS were filed in May 2015 by an analyst at U.S. Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. Through surveys and a Congress-created task force investigation, it came out that many analysts, approximately 40%, personally experienced an attempt to suppress or distort intelligence. Furthermore, during interviews with analysts, department officials insisted on being present. Throughout the investigation, the whistleblower’s claims were publicly dismissed as exaggerative and many analysts were intimidated into backing off of their claims.
