The United States Military takes any acts of adultery and fraternization very seriously. This large group of both men and woman not only represent the country to the rest of the world, they also represent the people to the U.S. as well, and as a result, the military is called to a higher standard of excellence before the law than most. While adultery is frowned upon to the country, it is not consider illegal to cheat on your spouse, however in the military, it is considered to be criminal conduct and therefore punishable by law.

At a base in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, an Army brigadier general has been accused for severe charges of sexual misconduct. These counts include adultery, forcible sodomy, as well as inappropriate behavior with woman subordinates. Brig. General Jeffery A. Sinclair has spent five combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan and now because of these actions is having his military career placed in jeopardy. Sinclair was released from service in May because of the multiple charges that are currently against him. There are also reported acts of possession of both pornography and alcohol, rape, violations of orders, as well as facing fraudulent charges for improperly using his travel charge card.

According to the Huffington Post Sinclair just heard news of httese specific charges this week, and now there will be an Article 32 investigation to look further into the matters. Part of this process will include a hearing for which a judge will decide if the case should be taken to trial or if it will be settled differently. The date of the preliminary hearing has not been released yet, though it will be made open to the public.

For a general to be facing these sorts of charges, not only could his military career be placed at risk, but he could also be looking at punishments with the law and time behind bars for his actions. Depending on the severity of the sexual misconduct charges in the military if a person is convicted it could result in a demotion in ranking or a complete dismissal from service. Criminal acts are taken very seriously by the United States government, and as a result if a person has been accused of any illegal acts it is imperative to contact an experienced and skilled court martial defense attorney to handle your case.
