USA Patriot Act and Terrorism Charges

In 2001 Congress enacted the "Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act" (USA Patriot Act) in order to give law enforcement new tools to detect and prevent terrorism. These tools consisted of sophisticated new technologies and ways to conduct electronic surveillance, acquire individual wire taps, conduct investigations on terrorist suspects without tipping them off, examine business records of suspected terrorists, more easily obtain multi-jurisdiction search warrants, track cyber-terrorists and more. Major legal barriers were also removed that prevented the government from being able to share information and thus "connect the dots."

There were also accusations of individuals, government or military that were claimed to have been in violation of the USA Patriot Act. Such an accusation is extremely serious. If you have reason to believe you or a loved one are under investigation for violations of the Patriot Act you need to contact an experienced military criminal defense attorney at the Federal Practice Group immediately. When it comes to fighting terrorism, domestic or international, the government will do everything within their power to ensure those responsible are fully prosecuted. Not only your military career, but your freedom, could also be at stake.

If You Are Under Investigation for Violating the Patriot Act

Fighting terrorism, both domestic and international, is a top priority for the U.S. government. There are instances, however, when alleged bounds have been overstepped, discrimination has set in, liberties have been taken too far or constitutional rights have reportedly been violated under the Patriot Act. Alleged computer crimes may have been committed or perhaps an illegal search and seizure. This is not a fight you want to address on your own. The court-martial attorneys at the firm have extensive experience representing active duty and retired military personnel and will aggressively fight to get you the most favorable resolution possible.
